Properties of a Dilute Bose Gas near Feshbach Resonance

چکیده
In this paper, properties of a homogeneous Bose gas with Feshbach resonance are studied in the dilute region at zero temperature. In the stationary state, there are condensations of atoms and molecules. The ratio of the molecule density to the atom density is proportional to na. There are two types of excitations, molecular excitations and atomic excitations. Atomic excitations are gapless, consistent with the traditional theory of a dilute Bose gas. The molecular excitation energy is finite in the long-wavelength limit as observed in recent experiments. In addition, the decay process of the condensate is studied. The prefactor of the three-body recombination rate is much bigger than that of a Bose gas without Feshbach resonance.

Dilute Fermi and Bose Gases
We give a unified perspective on the properties of a variety of quantum liquids using the theory of quantum phase transitions. A central role is played by a zero density quantum critical point which is argued to control the properties of the dilute gas. An exact renormalization group analysis of such quantum critical points leads to a computation of the universal properties of the dilute Bose g...
متن کاملBosons and Fermions near Feshbach resonances
Near Feshbach resonances, n|a|3 ≫ 1, systems of Bose and Fermi particles become strongly interacting/dense. In this unitary limit both bosons and fermions have very different properties than in a dilute gas, e.g., the energy per particle approach a value h̄n2/3/m times an universal many-body constant. Calculations based upon an approximate Jastrow wave function can quantitatively describe recent...

A Feshbach resonance in the s-wave scattering length occurs if the energy of the two atoms in the incoming open channel is close to the energy of a bound state in a coupled closed channel. Starting from the microscopic hamiltonian that describes this situation, we derive the effective atom-molecule theory for a Bose gas near a Feshbach resonance. In order to take into account all two-body proce...

We discuss the atom-atom scattering problem across a Feshbach resonance in a two-dimensional dilute Bose gas at zero temperature, in the limit where the s-wave scattering length exceeds the width of the vertical confinement. We determine a tunable coupling-strength parameter and by controlling it we evaluate how the condensate wave function spreads out with increasing atom-atom repulsions. We a...
